Welcome To The Wine Club Directory

We're a family owned web site that provides quality wine club reviews and recommendations of only the best wine clubs in the Untied States and Canada. If you're looking for wine clubs outside of North America, please see our international wine clubs page.

Our goal is to make your life easier by testing every wine club we recommend, so that you know you're only signing up with a top notch wine of the month club. While we have thoroughly enjoyed the process, and all the wine :-), as we've been doing these wine club reviews for years now, we're constantly surprised at how few GOOD wine clubs there really are out there. Point in case, we've run into a fair number of wine clubs, that claim to be the best wine clubs, that we will NEVER recommend to you, because the wines and/or customer service were horrible!

Rest assured though, the wine clubs we recommend, whether they be the California Wine Club or Cellars Wine Club or another wine club have all been pre-screened and received rave wine club reviews from not only us, but from other wine club members that have also enjoyed their wine club membership and the wines they've received.

Celebrations Wine Club Review – Valentines Day Offer

One of our favorite wine clubs is the Celebrations Wine Club. We rank them #2 on on our Top 10 Italian Wine Clubs list and in the top 10 on our California Wine Clubs list. The wines they find and deliver are awesome! We especially like that the owner of this wine club personally finds each and every one of the wines she sends out.

If you’re not already member, then you probably don’t get their email updates. Thus, here’s the latest news from the Celebrations Wine Club:

Celebrate Love
Make Valentine’s Day memorable with a gift membership to Celebrations Wine Club. You can order just one package for the occasion. Or you can send a series of packages and create a mini Valentine’s Day once a month for as long as you like.

This Month from California
In December 2011, Coombsville became the 16th and newest American Viticulture Area (AVA) in Napa County. About 25 small wineries occupy the appellation, and the oldest is Tulocay Winery, owned by Napa’s master of sardonic wit, Bill Cadman. ‘You can always tell when people are from Napa Valley,’ he says, ‘because the back left shoulder of their jackets is worn thin from constantly patting themselves on the back.’ Bill is not a back-patter, he is enormously proud of the delicious wines that we’re featuring this month. We’ve chosen the Tulocay 2009 Chardonnay and the 2007 Syrah, both made from Haynes Vineyard grapes, and the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon from Rancho Sarco Vineyard, all three from the new Coombsville AVA. The Tulocay 2002 Merlot is made from fruit that was harvested at Sierra Oaks Vineyard in El Dorado County.

This Month from Italy
The three wineries that we’re featuring this month are all farming organically with natural, sustainable methods. Sassotondo is located in the Maremma zone and is credited with restoring the reputation of ancient Ciliegiolo, thought to have arrived from Spain. We’ve chosen the Sassotondo 2010 Tuforosso, the 2009 Ciliegiolo Rosso, and the 2007 Ciliegiolo Riserva San Lorenzo. Le Fonti is located in the Chianti Classico zone, a tiny 24-hectare estate that claimed Gambero Rosso’s most prestigious Tre Bicchierri award for two of its current vintages, one of which is included in this month’s shipment, the Le Fonti 2006 Fontissimo. We’re also sending the Le Fonti 2008 Chianti Classico. Our lone white wine choice for this month comes from across the Tuscan border in Le Marche. Ciu’Ciu’ cultivates the traditional grapes of the zone, especially the red Rosso Piceno and the whites Passerina, Pecorino, and Trebbiano. We’ve chosen the Ciu’Ciu’ 2010 Evoe’ Passerina Offida.

Buy now!
We invite you to become a regular member and receive our two-bottle packages, ranging from $34 to $112. Or give a gift membership for any number of months, including one. Learn more about the Celebrations Wine Club today.

Save 35% on this Gold Medal-winning Carneros Pinot Noir!

One of the reasons why I love the California Wine Club so much is that they do an amazing job of bringing hard to find, award-winning wines straight to your inbox. As you can see in the email announcement below from them, this month they’re offering “by reservation only” the Bouchaine Vineyards 2007 Carneros Pinot Noir at a 35% discounted rate. The normal retail price on this pinot noir is $37 a bottle, but you can get it for only $24 a bottle by being a member of the California Wine Club.

Napa Valley’s prestigious Carneros appellation is world renowned for its Pinot Noir. This award-winning version highlights classic Carneros fruit: pomegranate, plum, and cherry fruit flavors, balanced by nuances of coffee and toffee. It’s won 2 gold medals and won’t be around for much longer, so get it while it lasts.

Fawnridge Winery In Auburn California

I recently spent 2 weeks out in California and was lucky enough to get up to the Sierra Foothills to check out some of the wineries there and the wine clubs they have to offer. One winery that I really enjoyed visiting was the Fawnridge Winery, which is a small, family owned winery in Auburn, California. The winery was started in 2000 by Stewart and Stephanie Perry who wanted to pursue their passion for wine.

After realizing that the area’s excellent sun exposure and soil condition make the climate of the Sierra Foothills similar to areas of Europe famous for producing high quality wines, they did extensive soil testing and evaluation of their land’s terroir and were ecstatic to learn that it received excellent ratings on all fronts. 11 years later, I’m happy to report that they are doing a wonderful job of creating some of Auburn California’s best wines.

One of the things I really enjoyed about the Fawnridge Winery, was getting there. Unlike the many wineries of Napa Valley that are right off of busy roads, to get to the Fawnridge Winery, you take a small, country road up a hill to their tasting room (see the map below). There I was greeted by Stewart and Stephanie and got to talk at great length with them about the area and their winery. They made me feel right at home and I loved sampling the wines they had put so much love and effort into.

I receive a LOT of wine from all the wine clubs I’m a part of, so its very easy for me to not buy a bottle of wine at every winery I visit. The wines at the Fawnridge Winery were definitely worth bringing home though, so I asked them to please mail me the 2 bottles you see below: their 2009 Proprieter’s Blend and the their 2007 Old Vine Zinfandel. They even included a nice note signed by both Stewart and Stephanie.

If you’re ever in the Auburn, California area, be sure to drop by the Fawnridge Winery and taste some of their great wines for yourself. And be sure to sign up for their wine club, which gives you exclusive access to wine club member events, private tours, barrel tastings, winemaker dinners and BBQs, etc. Cheers!

Wine of the Month Club Review – Lockwood Vineyard

I’m a member of a lot of wine clubs, but one of my favorite is the Wine of the Month Club as you can see on the Best Wine Clubs page. There is just no other wine club that tastes 400 bottles of wine a month to find the two best to send your way. I’m a member of the Limited Series (one of the five wine clubs available from the Wine of the Month Club) which costs just under $42 a month. Be sure to use the Wine of the Month Club Coupon Code on our website to ensure you pay less than that though.

This month we’ve received two 95 point wines from Lockwood Vineyard of Monterey, California. The first bottle is a 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon / Malbec / Merlot blend and the second bottle is a 2009 Pinot Noir. I’m a huge fan of red wines, so I can’t wait to open these up and give them a go. Feel free to view the video review of these wines below:

Why You Should Give The California Wine Club As A Gift This Year

I’ve been a member of the California Wine Club for a while now and absolutely love this wine club. So much so that I gave a one year subscription to my Dad this year for his birthday. He loves getting award-winning wines from California every month that have already been tasted and pre-approved by the wine experts at the California Wine Club.

What we both like about the California Wine Club is that the owners of the wine club personally travel California’s wine country, visiting small, “mom and pop” wineries where families put their hearts into winemaking and quality is valued above quantity. No other wine club takes the time for this kind of hands-on-selection. The California Wine Club does though because they are as passionate about these limited-production wines as the families who make them.

So, this year, be sure to share a California Wine Adventure with your friends and family members by giving the gift of a California Wine Club membership.

California Wine Club Special Offer On Kokomo 2009 Zinfandel – 91 Points

I love being a member of the California Wine Club! They pass on amazing deals to their wine club subscribers that you just can’t get anywhere else. Here’s the latest one from them: Get the 91 Point Kokomo Winery 2009 Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel for only $19 a bottle! That’s $8 off the normal price you’ll find elsewhere online.

This great Sonoma County Zinfandel from 2009 was a Top Wine Spectator Pick among a special tasting of 14 Zinfandels. I also love hearing first hand from the winemaker. Here’s what he had to say about this great wine he created: “Rich and deeply structures. Fresh huckleberry and violet aromas with flavors of wild berry cobbler, a little black pepper, and a beautiful acidity showcase this deep wine.” – Erik Miller, Winemaker for Kokomo Winery.
